Salesforce Currency with more than 2 decimal places

Salesforce is capable of storing currency to more than 2 decimal places at the database or API level. We use Financial Force as our accounting package and use Purchase Orders, Sales Orders, and Sales Invoice for fulfillment and billing purposes. Several of our suppliers use 3rd or 4th decimal points in the item pricing, and this causes our PO and supplier's Sales Invoice not to match final dollar amounts. Is it possible to use additional decimal points in product pricing?

The good news is that Salesforce does allow more than 2 decimal points on Unit Amount Fields. To achieve this, you'll have to change Organizational Custom Settings.

  1. Click Setup > Develop > Custom Settings
  2. Click Manage by Organization Settings
  3. Click Edit
  4. Change the Number of Decimal Digits
  5. Click Save

The Number of Decimal Digits must be the same number of decimals that are set in Salesforce (THIS OPTION NO LONGER EXISTS IN SPRING 18 SALESFORCE EDITION)

  1. Click Setup > click Company Profile > click Manage Currencies > click Manage Currencies (again)
  2. Change the desired number of Decimal Places for each currency.
  3. Note that this is a global change so it will affect all currency fields in the system.

See the following Online Help links that refer to Decimal Places Extended Decimal Places and Create and Edit Purchase Orders.
